Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about these here baseball teams, the Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners. They been goin’ at it for a while now, knockin’ balls around and tryin’ to win. Don’t know all them fancy stats and numbers, but I can tell ya who’s been smackin’ the ball and who’s been missin’ it.
Houston Astros, they pretty good, yessir. They won a bunch of games last year, somethin’ like 93, I heard. Scored a whole heap of runs too, more than them Mariners fellas. Them Mariners, they only won 73, not so good. But baseball, it ain’t always ’bout winnin’ every game, it’s ’bout playin’ hard and tryin’ your best. And sometimes, even the best teams get beat, that’s just how it goes.
- Astros winnin’ games: Heard they won a lot, maybe 93.
- Mariners tryin’ hard: They won some too, but not as many, maybe 73.
- Runs scored: Astros, they got more runs, 703, I think. Mariners got 642.
Now, ’bout them players. Heard of this fella, Jake Meyers, plays for the Astros. He smacked a homer, a big one, knocked in two runs and won the game. Happened in the seventh inning, real excitin’ stuff. Hit it off some fella used to play for the Astros, Ryne Stanek, now he’s with the Mariners. Funny how that works, ain’t it?
Then there’s this other fella, Jason Heyward, heard he got a hit that put his team ahead too. Don’t know all the details, just know he hit the ball good and helped his team. That’s what you gotta do in baseball, help your team win.
The Astros and Mariners, they play each other a lot. They played back in 2021, and the Mariners won that one, 11 to 8. Big score, lots of hittin’. Then they played again in 2022, in October, and the Astros won that one, 4 to 2. Not as many runs, but still a good game. Seems like they always battlin’ it out, one team winnin’ one day, the other team winnin’ the next.
And just this past September, the 25th I think, they played again. Don’t know who won that one right off hand, but they playin’ again soon, I hear. Even got a game scheduled way out in 2025, in July. These fellas keep on playin’ and playin’. Guess that’s what they do, play baseball.
They even got a minor league team, the Tacoma Rainiers, that’s connected to the Mariners. They the Triple-A team, whatever that means. They won somethin’ called the Triple-A West Championship in 2021. Guess they pretty good too. Got a stadium, sell tickets and stuff. It’s like a whole baseball family, from the little guys to the big leaguers.
So, there ya have it. Astros and Mariners, they been sluggin’ it out for years, good players, lots of runs, and some excitin’ games. Don’t matter if you win every time, just gotta play hard and give it your all. That’s what baseball’s all about, ain’t it?
And if you want to know all them fancy details, like box scores and play-by-play, gotta go look it up on that computer thingy. Me, I just like watchin’ ’em hit the ball and run around. That’s excitin’ enough for me. And them fellas runnin’ bases, they fast! Gotta be fast to play this here game, that’s for sure.
Sometimes I wonder how they even see that little ball comin’ at ’em so fast. And how they hit it so far, must be strong fellas. But they train hard, I guess. That’s their job, playin’ baseball. And they do a good job of it, most of the time. Even when they lose, they keep on tryin’. That’s what I like about it, they never give up.
So next time you see the Astros and the Mariners playin’, remember what I told ya. They good teams, with good players, and they always put on a good show. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it? Just enjoy the game, that’s what I do. Grab a hot dog and a soda, and cheer for whoever you like. Or just cheer for good baseball, that’s good too.
