So, I got curious the other day about who really hits the ball the farthest on the LPGA tour. You hear commentators talk about power, but I wanted to know who’s actually at the top based on the numbers.

First thing I did, naturally, was hop on my computer. I just typed in something simple like ‘longest hitters LPGA’ or ‘LPGA driving distance leaders’. You know how it is, just starting broad.
Got a mix of results back. News articles, blog posts like this one probably, some older stats too. Saw names I recognized, some from years ago even. It wasn’t super clear who the current queen of distance was straight away.
Realized I needed something more official, something current. So, I specifically looked for the official LPGA Tour stats section. Took a minute to find the right spot on their site, navigating through menus. They have stats for everything, you can really get lost in there.
Finding the Driving Stats
Finally landed on the driving stats page. And there it was, a list of players ranked by their average driving distance. It usually shows the current season or maybe the previous one.
- I scrolled through the list.
- Checked out the top names.
- Looked at their average yards per drive.
It wasn’t just one name dominating forever. Seems like it changes a bit season to season. Sometimes you see rookies come out swinging hard, other times it’s the established players holding strong. I saw a few players consistently near the top spots over the last couple of years, people like Anne van Dam or Maria Fassi often get mentioned for their power.
It’s pretty impressive seeing those numbers, knowing how much technique goes into it, not just brute strength. Though, gotta say, hitting it far is one thing, but keeping it on the fairway is the real challenge, right? That’s a whole different stat category I looked at next.
Anyway, that was my little mission. Just involved some searching online, clicking around the official stats pages, and comparing the numbers. Satisfied my curiosity for the day!
