Alright, so I tackled “The Shadow Over Ban Pa 2” today. Handshake gave me this one, follow-up to the first part, obviously. Said there was more digging to do in Ban Pa, some kind of intel left behind.
Getting Ready
First thing, checked the map. Ban Pa, again. Ugh. Knew it’d be crawling. Decided to gear up light but effective. Took my trusty M4, couple of extra mags, basic armor, and a bigger backpack just in case I found other stuff. Always pack extra water and maybe a bandage or two, learned that the hard way before.
Heading Out
Called in the chopper, landed at the usual LZ near the village, Lima 1 I think? Or was it Lima 2? Doesn’t matter, close enough. Hopped out, immediately crouched and scanned the tree line. You never know. Started moving towards the village, slow and steady. Stick to the bushes, avoid the main road. Heard some shots in the distance, probably other players or just the local militia scrapping. Tried not to get involved.
In the Village
Getting into Ban Pa itself was tense. Saw a couple of AI patrols, managed to sneak past one, had to drop the other two. Quick shots, didn’t want to make too much noise. The task mentioned looking for intel, usually means checking specific buildings. Handshake’s notes pointed towards a particular house, described it vaguely, like ‘the one near the big tree’ or something. Typical.
I started checking houses in the area he hinted at. Went room by room in a couple of them. Found some junk, ammo, but not the objective. Then I spotted the building he likely meant – slightly bigger, looked a bit more ‘official’, maybe? Had that busted-up shack vibe like everything else, but yeah.
Finding the Goods
Carefully approached it. Listened at the door. Nothing. Breached it – clear. Started searching inside. Lots of overturned tables, papers scattered everywhere. Took me a minute, but then I saw it on a desk in the back room. A folder, looked like documents. That had to be it.
- Checked the desk carefully.
- Picked up the folder labelled ‘Ban Pa Operations Intel’ or something similar.
- Stuffed it securely in my pack. Mission item acquired.
Getting Out
Okay, got the intel. Now, the fun part: extraction. Didn’t want to stick around. Backtracked the way I came, mostly. Heard more shooting nearby, decided to take a slightly wider route back towards the LZ. More crawling through bushes. Finally made it to the extraction point, popped smoke, and waited. Felt longer than it probably was. Chopper arrived, jumped in, and breathed a sigh of relief as we lifted off.
Mission Complete
Back at base camp, went straight to Handshake. Handed over the documents. Got my reward, some cash, bit of XP. Another task down. Ban Pa is always a headache, but got it done. That’s the job, right?
