Alright, here’s the lowdown on how I tracked down some ballpark figures for the Tank vs. Frank Martin PPV buys. It was a bit of a dive, but here’s what I did.

Frank Martin vs Tank: How Many People Actually Bought It?

First things first, I started with Google. Duh. I punched in “Tank Davis vs Frank Martin PPV buys estimates” and variations of that.

Why? Because you gotta start somewhere, and often some sports news sites or boxing blogs will throw out preliminary numbers or guesses right after a fight. I was hoping for a quick win, but nope. Just a bunch of articles recapping the fight and pre-fight hype.

Next up, I hit up some boxing forums and subreddits.

  • r/Boxing: Searched for threads related to the fight. You often find people speculating or sharing info they’ve heard.
  • BoxingScene Forums: Old-school, but sometimes has gems.

Spent a good hour just scrolling and reading. Found a few comments with numbers being thrown around, but nothing concrete or credible. Lots of “I heard…” or “My buddy said…” – pure speculation.

Okay, time to dig deeper. I remembered that sometimes industry analysts or reporters will tweet about these things. So I went to Twitter (X, whatever) and started searching for:

  • “Tank Davis PPV buys”
  • “Frank Martin PPV buys”
  • “Boxing PPV numbers”

I also specifically looked for accounts of known boxing reporters like Dan Rafael, Mike Coppinger, and a few others. Scrolled through their timelines and recent posts. Nothing directly about Tank vs. Martin. Bummer.

Then I tried to look at past Tank Davis fights. I figured if I could find numbers for his previous fights, I could maybe make a rough guess based on the popularity of Martin compared to his past opponents. Sites like Tapology or individual sports news outlets sometimes have scattered data.

Result: Found some numbers for the Garcia fight (reportedly over 1.2 million buys), a vague range for the Santa Cruz fight, but nothing super recent or consistently tracked.

Frank Martin vs Tank: How Many People Actually Bought It?

Here’s the thing: PPV numbers are often kept pretty close to the vest. Promoters don’t always release the official figures, and when they do, they can be… let’s say “massaged” a bit. Also, streaming numbers are increasingly important, and those are even harder to track down.

Finally, I pieced together some of the vague estimates I’d found online, combined it with what I knew about Tank’s drawing power, and factored in that Martin, while a good fighter, isn’t a huge name. This is 100% gut feeling and VERY rough estimation.

My GUESS (and that’s all it is) is that the Tank vs. Frank Martin fight probably did somewhere in the 300k-450k PPV buy range. Maybe a little higher if it had crazy buzz I missed, maybe lower if people were turned off by the price point or perceived mismatch.

Disclaimer Time

Important: This is NOT official. It’s just my best guess based on the limited public information available. Take it with a huge grain of salt. Getting accurate PPV numbers is like pulling teeth. Unless you’re Top Rank’s accountant, you’re probably just guessing.

So, yeah, that’s how I went about trying to figure out the PPV buys. It’s a bit of a frustrating process, but hopefully this gives you some insight into how these things often go.
