Alright, let me tell you about this little experiment I did trying to figure out who’s the better tight end pick: Hunter Henry or Jake Ferguson. I’ve been messing around with my fantasy team, and these two guys were lingering in the free agent pool. So, I figured, why not dive in and see what’s what?
First things first, I pulled up their stats from last season. I wanted to see their average targets, receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Purely looking at numbers, Henry had a slightly better overall season, but Ferguson really came on strong towards the end. I thought to myself, “Okay, interesting. Numbers only tell half the story.”
Next, I dug into their team dynamics. Who are their quarterbacks? What are their offenses like? Henry’s got Mac Jones (or whoever the Pats trot out there), and the Patriots’ offense has been…well, let’s just say inconsistent. Ferguson, on the other hand, has Dak Prescott throwing to him on a Cowboys team that’s known for putting up points. I started leaning towards Ferguson here.
But, I didn’t stop there. I watched some game film. I wanted to see how they actually looked on the field. How well do they run routes? How are their hands? How physical are they? I noticed Henry is a bit more polished as a route runner, but Ferguson seems to have that “dawg” mentality, going up and fighting for the ball. He’s also a decent blocker, which can keep him on the field for more snaps. This made the decision tougher.
To add another layer, I checked for any news or injury reports. Sometimes, a player’s situation can change drastically in the offseason. Thankfully, both guys seemed healthy and ready to go. So that didn’t really sway my decision much.
After all this, I decided to go with Jake Ferguson. Here’s why:
- Dak Prescott: I trust Dak more than whatever QB situation the Patriots are going to have.
- Cowboys’ Offense: Dallas is likely to score more points than New England. More points = more opportunities.
- Upside: Ferguson seems to be trending upwards. He’s got the potential to be a real focal point in the Cowboys’ passing game.
I added Ferguson to my roster and dropped someone else. Now, I ain’t saying this is the right choice. Fantasy football is all about luck and gut feeling. But, I did my research, and I feel good about my decision. We’ll see how it pans out during the season. I’ll keep you all updated!
