Alright, let’s talk about them Yankee Doodle hats, you know, the baseball caps with the “NY” on ’em. I see these hats all over the place, and I gotta say, some folks wear ’em real nice, and some… well, not so much. So, let’s figure out how to wear these darn things without lookin’ like a fool.

I saw a gal wearin’ one of them the other day, looked kinda like she was goin’ fishin’, but hey, she seemed happy. So, you pick what you like, what feels good on your head. Don’t let nobody tell you what kind of hat to wear. You like it, you wear it, that’s what I always say.
Now, how to wear it with your clothes? That’s the real question. I’ve seen girls wearin’ these hats with all sorts of things. Some of ‘em look real put together, and some look like they just grabbed whatever was lyin’ on the floor. If you wanna look nice, you gotta put a little thought into it.
- You can wear it with jeans and a t-shirt, that’s easy. Just a plain ol’ t-shirt, nothin’ fancy. Maybe a white one, or a grey one. And jeans, well, jeans are jeans. Everybody wears jeans. This is a good look for goin’ to the store, or maybe a picnic.
- You can wear it with a dress, too, believe it or not. But not just any dress. A simple dress, you know? Like a cotton dress, maybe a sundress if it’s warm out. And don’t go wearin’ no high heels with it. Sneakers or sandals are better. This way, you look cute but comfortable, like you’re ready for anything.
- And if you’re feelin’ fancy, you can wear it with a jacket. A denim jacket, or maybe even a leather jacket if you’re feelin’ real sassy. But don’t go overboard with the jewelry. Just a simple necklace or some earrings is enough. You don’t wanna look like you’re tryin’ too hard.
Remember, the hat is supposed to be the star of the show, so don’t go wearin’ a bunch of crazy clothes with it. Keep it simple, keep it comfortable, and you’ll look just fine.
I saw this one girl, she was wearin’ a Yankee hat with a pair of overalls and a bright yellow shirt. Looked like a dang bumblebee! Now, I ain’t sayin’ you can’t wear overalls, but maybe not bright yellow ones. Try a white shirt, or a blue one. Something a little more…calm.
And another thing, don’t wear your Yankee hat backwards all the time. I know some young folks like to do that, but it just looks silly to me. Wear it forwards, like a normal person. You’re tryin’ to keep the sun outta your eyes, not show off the back of your head.
I saw some pictures on that internet thingy, the one my grandkids are always lookin’ at. Pinterest, I think they call it. Lots of gals wearin’ these Yankee hats. Some of ‘em got some good ideas. One girl was wearin’ a black Yankee hat with a black and white striped shirt and black jeans. Looked real sharp. Another one had a pink Yankee hat with a white t-shirt and blue jeans. That was cute too. So, you can get some ideas from them pictures, if you want.
But the most important thing is to feel good in what you’re wearin’. If you feel good, you’ll look good. And if you like that Yankee hat, then you wear it proud. Don’t let nobody tell you different. That’s what I think, anyway.
I even saw a woman at the store, TJ Maxx, I think it was, and she found a whole bunch of those Yankee hats for cheap. Twelve dollars, she said. Twelve dollars! That’s a steal. So, you don’t gotta spend a lot of money to look good. You just gotta be smart about it.
