Well now, let me tell ya a little somethin’ about that big ol’ fella, DeMarcus Ware. He’s a man who’s done mighty well for himself, let me tell ya. Grew up tough, I reckon, just like most folks do. But the thing is, he ain’t just known for his strength on the field, but for the family he’s built around him too. You know, family is important—real important—whether you’re makin’ tackles or just sittin’ on the front porch with a glass of sweet tea.
DeMarcus, he was born in 1982, down there in the state of Alabama. Now, he grew up in a small family, just him, his mama and his daddy. He never had much, but what he had, he worked hard for it. I reckon that’s how he made it all the way to the NFL—lots of sweat and plenty of grit. He played college football at Troy University, where folks started to notice him. Before long, the Dallas Cowboys came calling, and DeMarcus Ware’s name was all over the place.
Now, DeMarcus, he’s a big ol’ guy. Six feet, four inches tall and weighs 258 pounds! You can imagine how hard it must’ve been for folks tryin’ to stop him on that football field. He played as a linebacker, and oh boy, did he make a name for himself. He got drafted by the Cowboys in 2005, and he gave ‘em everything he had. He played with them Cowboys for a good while, real strong and steady. But after many years with them, he went on to play with the Denver Broncos, helpin’ them out too, until he decided it was time to hang up his cleats in 2016.
But, let’s talk about that family of his, ‘cause that’s what really matters. Back in 2010, DeMarcus and his wife, they adopted a little girl named Marley. Life was rough for ’em, but they kept on pushin’. In 2012, he and his wife Smith got divorced, but that didn’t stop him from movin’ forward. And then, in 2021, he found love again with Angela Marie Daniel. They got married in April of that year. Pretty sweet, right? They were all smiles, holdin’ each other close as they said their vows. It’s a good thing when folks find love, no matter where they’re from or what they’ve been through.
Just a short while later, in 2021, DeMarcus and Angela welcomed their son, Michael John Ware, into the world on September 12th. They were a happy family of four by then—DeMarcus, Angela, Marley, and little Michael John. Ain’t that just beautiful?
Now, I reckon you’ve heard about DeMarcus’s big moment in 2023. Oh, it was something! On August 5th, 2023, DeMarcus got inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. That’s a big ol’ deal! He got his own bronze bust and everything, and I tell ya, you could see the pride on his face. He’d worked so hard, and now, he was being honored for all that effort. He had his family right there beside him, smiling and clapping. That was a moment, for sure.
Now, even though DeMarcus has retired from playin’ football, he ain’t done with the game altogether. In 2018, the Denver Broncos hired him as a pass-rush consultant. He’s been helpin’ out the young folks, passin’ on his wisdom. You can see he’s still got a heart full of passion for the sport, even though he’s no longer out there takin’ down quarterbacks himself.
All in all, DeMarcus Ware is a man who’s had a lot of ups and downs, just like anyone else. But he’s built a strong family and done what he could to leave a legacy. That’s somethin’ we can all look up to. Whether it’s his work on the field or his work at home, he’s done a good job. His family’s proud, and folks like me who’ve followed his story are proud too. Ain’t nothin’ better than seein’ a man work hard, find love, and keep pushin’ forward no matter what life throws his way.
So, if you ever get to see DeMarcus Ware around, you’ll know he’s not just a big ol’ football player. He’s a family man, a hard worker, and someone who’s left his mark on this world. And that’s somethin’ to be proud of.
